The 2022 Job Market: A Post Pandemic Landscape

Updated: Oct 26, 2022

After the COVID-19 recession in 2020, the world hoped that 2021 would be the year to rebuild and return to normalcy. Unfortunately, as wave after wave of new variants and lockdowns hit, 2021 quickly became a year much like 2020. Finally, in 2022 the severity of COVID cases seems to have decreased and restrictions have begun to lift. But how has nearly 2 years of lockdown impacted the job market, and how has the employment landscape changed?

One of the biggest changes has been the incorporation of remote work. As the world adapted to a life of quarantines, social distancing, and zoom calls, the “traditional” landscape of work was moved online. Companies have implemented hybrid style work (In person/virtual), while some switched to hosting fully remote positions - styles that were both rarely utilized before 2020. With the ability to work remotely, companies can theoretically hire from all over the country, vastly increasing the pool of potential candidates. While this can have a positive impact on a company’s ability to attract new talent, it has an unfortunate downside of causing more work for hiring managers.

RepuCare works with companies who look to outsource the hiring process. Through Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) RepuCare takes the stress off companies looking to fill positions, while giving candidates the ability to job hunt, apply, and work through RepuCare’s network, which spans across numerous states. As a certified Woman Owned Business in over 15 states, RepuCare deals with all types of work placement situations and strategically places candidates in positions that best fit each individual.

Another change we have seen recently is the amount of job movement currently taking place. During the pandemic, people have begun to reevaluate their careers more than ever before. Long term employees are quitting either to look for higher pay, greater job satisfaction, or just advancing their careers. Eyes have been opened and it seems like everyone is on the move! Josh Bersin believes that there are nearly 17 million open positions in the United States today! (Welcome to 2022: Too Many Jobs, Not Enough People – JOSH BERSIN) The sheer number of open seats is incredible. However, the greater amount of empty seats that your business finds itself with, the greater impact RepuCare can have on your long-term viability.

We have seen exceptionally high demand for contingent workers, especially in the healthcare industry. As our recruiters say, “new positions are coming in every day”, so efficient and effective placement is vital to success in the business of staff augmentation.
